Job Description

How you will make an impact? 

We are seeking a highly skilled, communicative and structured Business Process Consultant to oversee and continuously improve MMS DC, METRO’s global solution to support business-critical warehouse operations in six Metro countries, including goods management in distribution centers and the goods flow between logistics service providers (LSPs), warehouses, and stores. This solution is developed and supported by our external service provider. 

As a Business Process Consultant, you will bridge business and technology: the role combines service ownership, incident management, stakeholder communication, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes. You will work closely with METRO AG, local country teams, external development partners, and other team members to guarantee stable services, transparent governance, and a seamless supply chain experience. 

In the current lifecycle situation for MMS DC, which is planned to be replaced mid-term, your job will also include to design and plan the move from MMS DC to future solutions, which are still in concept stage, and support the business process switch, including technical understanding of the underlying solutions and supporting this move from business and technical perspective. 

At the same time, the solution is currently still being rolled out to additional countries, replacing locally developed solutions.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own and manage day-to-day operations of MMS DC, ensuring stability, data quality, and alignment with METRO’s supply chain framework. 
  • Act as second-line escalation point for incidents and service requests. 
  • Analyze incidents, monitor SLAs, and apply corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 
  • Manage backlog items, define and refine requirements, and collaborate with the external development partner to ensure timely delivery of fixes and enhancements. 
  • Maintain service documentation, workflows, and integration diagrams, ensuring knowledge transfer across teams. 
  • Prepare and present OKRs, KPIs, and service health reports to the Supply Chain management bodies. 
  • Promote transparency and collaboration across domains such as master data or store operations. 
  • Support the implementation of MMS DC in new METRO countries. 
  • Act as a go-between for business and IT. 
  • Drive strategic thinking and change management at METRO. 
  • Support strategic decision-making processes. 
  • Support possible replacement of parts of MMS DC and transfer towards newly developed solutions in the supply chain area. 

Qualifications

Required key competencies and qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field – or 5-10 years of experience in a similar role 
  • 5+ years of experience with supply chain processes, especially in the area of warehouse operations 
  • Knowledge of SQL language: performing queries, ability to understand basic SQL code 
  • Curious, self-motivated, willingness to learn and enthusiastic 
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills across business and technical teams 
  • Proactive, result oriented team-player with the ability to work independently 
  • Ability to respect deadlines and prioritize a busy workload 
  • Experience with steering of development teams, preferably with external providers   
  • Very good fluency in English (written and verbal)  
  • Familiarity with incident and change management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow). 

Nice-to-Have Skills 

  • Experience with Oracle databases and/or Oracle Forms/Reports 
  • Previous experience with country solution roll-outs 
  • Previous experience with IT solution switches and process adoptions for implementation of new IT solutions
